A Day in the Life of an Ingres Tuner

In this presentation I show how the various Ingres monitoring tools can be applied to the problem of improving the performance of an on-line transaction processing application written in Java (although the techniques shown work just as well with any other language).  The performance of the application was improved by over 1,300% before I decided it was "good enough", but further improvements are possible.

The source code and set-up files for the example application can be downloaded too, so that you can try it out and even use it for your own experiments.

The presentation is in the form of 52 MS PowerPoint 2003 slides, zipped to 139kb and inflating to 273kb.
