Rolling out OpenROAD applications to very large numbers of desktops is complicated by the need to distribute the OpenROAD runtime environment.  This presentation examines the history of doing large-scale OpenROAD rollouts and the problems encountered, and then introduces the use of the Microsoft Installer (MSI) and active directory services to simplify the process.  Using the approach described in this presentation the rollout can be managed centrally and individual rollouts take less than 10 seconds each.  It is also possible to rapidly uninstall, making it feasible to deploy OpenROAD applications only briefly, for temporary use if that is appropriate.  Finally this presentation mentions some of the techniques that CA have introduced to make future application deployment even simpler.

The presentation is in the form of 23 Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 slides, zipped to 119kb and inflating to 190kb.
